Sus Manos Extendidas Winter 2026 Update

Dear Partner,

Can you believe it? We are into a new year, 2026! Happy New Year and a belated Merry Christmas! We hope your last year was full of joy in the Lord. Margie and I are so grateful for each one of you, our generous partners and givers. Truly, we could not do what we do without your support. Our prayer and mission for this new year is for us to be willing to share His great love anywhere and at any moment, using what we have in our hands.

I was recently in Killeen, looking at a storage building I had just purchased. While there, a man approached me.  We began a conversation, and he began asking me about my businesses over the years. We soon transitioned to talking about Jesus and the church community. He disclosed that he struggled with church attendance and knowing his place in the body of Christ. At that moment, I felt an urge to listen more closely to his story. After much discussion, I asked, “What is in your 3-foot world?” “What is right in front of you?” (We are so blind sometimes to what is right in front of us). He answered me with more clarity than throughout our entire discussion - his daughter, his girlfriend, and finding a church. The Holy Spirit led him to what was right in front of him. I am happy to report that he is now laser-focused on his child, his girlfriend, and connecting with a local church. Hopefully, today, Gerald is more aware of the kingdom of God in his own backyard. During Christmas, twelve of us were able to do just that—to be generous with those right in front of us at La Casa de mi Padre - Hogar.

This trip was made possible not just by the 12 of us, but also by multiple others who supported us with prayers, gifts, and financial blessings. The children, staff, and village community were richly blessed. During our outreach, 8 people committed to following Christ!  We also completed several work projects, and, of course, we celebrated Christmas with the children. The most moving part? I also learned that the children went back to some of the families we had visited during our outreach and gave from their
abundance to the poorest of the poor in the village. This is our children giving to other children who have even less than them. This is our children learning from your example.

We also saw several key infrastructure projects completed in 2025. Your generosity helped us install:
  • A security wall across the full width of the front of the property and a six-foot security chain-link fence around the rest of the property
  • A 13 kW propane backup generator
  • 10 security cameras with infrastructure to support it.

This gives the children and staff a greater sense of safety and security.

One final project that so many contributed to was the purchase of 30 new mattresses, mattress covers, and sheets. The children and staff were so very grateful for these gifts! Thank you again for your incredible generosity.

My encounter with Gerald reminded me that we all need to be tuned into God’s Spirit to show us how we can make 2026 the year of generosity, with our time, talent, and treasure!

Co-laborers in Christ,
Terry and Margie Slack
